Other than the projects run by Nalta Hospital it runs some regular activities for the welfare of the community. Some of the activities are
Satellite Clinic
Nalta Hospital is running 4 (four) satellite clinic to bring healthcare facility to the door step of the community. Through these satellite clinics we are providing health services to the poor people specially for the Mother and Child under the project of Mother & Child Care (MCC). A continuous survey report is maintained for this project. Under this project we are providing training & awareness program to the pregnant mother about the following issues
• Health care guideline during pregnancy period
• Regular medical checkup during pregnancy
• Nutrition guideline
• Precautions for movement and doing regular works
• When & where to go for delivery
• Preparation for the upcoming baby
• How to take care of new born baby
• Child nutrition
• Immunization of babies
Over 500 mother & 550 child are getting services directly under this project.
On the other hand we are providing primary health & general health services by satellite clinic weekly basis with a doctor, one nurses for the ultra poor people who are living in a remote areas and has less access to the hospital. We also provide free medicine to the poor patients.
Medical Camps
Nalta Hospital organize regular health camps to facilitate its healthcare services much more to the people of its community. Some of the successful medical camps are
Eye camp: Nalta Hospital had successfully completed a mega eye camp on December 2009. Patients from all the Thana’s of Satkhira district joined this 3 day long eye camp. On this camp 1200 patients were served with primary eye examination at free of cost and 400 patients were operated for Katarac Surgery. National Eye Science Institute, The Fred Hollows Foundation, Vision 2021 and NHCHF actively supported this eye camp.
The camp was conducted by a team of 35 members leaded by Dr. Anayet Hossain.
Cleft lip camp: Cleft lip is a common birth defect. This problem can be resolved with the aid of surgery. NHCHF in cooperation with Dutch Bangla Bank Limited organized a cleft lip camp on April 2010. At this camp a group of doctors headed by Prof. Dr. AZM Salek primarily selected 73 patients and finally they operated 56 of them absolutely at free of cost.
Club Foot camp: In 2010 Nalta Hospital organized a club foot camp to treat people with club foot problem. On this camp 8 patients were taken through free surgery after primary screening of 53 patients with club foot problem. And they are now enjoying their normal life with freedom of movement. This camp was directed by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. AHM Abdur Rouf. Dr. Abul Fazal Mahmud, Dr. Mehedi Newaz and doctors of Nalta Hospital assisted Dr. Rouf in this camp.
Awareness buildup program on some social issue like
Awareness buildup on HIV/AIDS: HIV/AIDS is a serious issue worldwide and Bangladesh is no exception. Nalta Hospital is working on this issue by awareness building among people about the severe impact of HIV/AIDS and about the precautions to prevent this deadly disease. As a part of this campaign during the year 2010-2011, 840 youth of Kaligonj Thana has been trained in 42 batches. This campaign was conducted by 15 peer educator with complete assistance by two master trainers.
Joint program with Acid Survivors Foundation: Acid violence is a particularly vicious and damaging form of violence in Bangladesh where acid is thrown in people’s faces. The overwhelming majority of the victims are women, and many of them are below 18 years of age. Nalta Hospital along with Acid Survivors Foundation organize different event to build up awareness among people about the severe impact of acid violence and treatments for acid violence victims. In 2009-2010 Acid Survivors Foundation conducted 2 day long training programs leaded by renowned platic surgeon Prof AZM Salek and his team. All doctors, nurses, health service workers of Satkhira District participated in these training programs.
Program on Water & Sanitation : Nalta Hospital has organized 20 day long programs in the year 2010-2011 to build up awareness on Pure Drinking Water & Sanitation Program. 407 trainee were entertained through these 20 training programs. The training programs were conducted by PRO of Nalta Hospital Md. Abu Aslam & Field Supervisor Md. Jahangir Alam.
